These are the books I have been reading over the few weeks. Now Durga will say,"See! I told you Jes is a book freak!!" Haha. Anyway I decided to put them up to show that not all books are BORING!!
There's always something to cater to your literary inclinations. Azizah will always ask me how the hell I read books! There are some which turn me off. Those with numerous pages and really tiny words repulse me. Old-time novels from authors like Nora Roberts are a no-no for me. I am sure she is a wonderful writer but I am not drawn to her books.
A few authors that I like and off the top of my mind will be Dan Brown, Johnathan Kellerman (fantastic at psychological thrillers!), John Grisham (legal thrillers) Sidney Sheldon (expertise in thrillers too), Jennifer Crusie (romance and humour) and Sophie Kinsella (romance and humour).
That's what I can recall for now. Sophie Kinsella books are hard to put down and a must-read. Durga, you must admit you love her books as well (:
The latest one that I read by Jennifer Weiner, Little Earthquakes is very touching and at the same time has a tinge of humour in it. I love books like that. Romance with humour is much appealing than those sickly soppy romance novels, at least to me. Jennifer Weiner is also the author of In Her Shoes, the movie with Cameron Diaz. Little Earthquakes is about pregnant mothers getting their lives together, being power mothers and saving their marriages. It was really touching.
Anyone But You by Jennifer Crusie is a short story and it is humorous. It is about this divorcee getting romantically involved with a younger man. If you are the romantic sucker you should get it.
I have already spoken about Angels and Demons in my last post. I have to say that if you are one who is simply not interested in science, religion or suspense, well, don't bother. This one can taste your patience if you only enjoy reading magazines. That's definitely not an insult. Like I said before everyone one of us have different preferences of reading materials. Just because you enjoy reading only magazines does not mean you are not proficient in your languages and just because you read tons of books it does not mean you are ermm boring! *hint* (:
Hopefully this did not turn out to be a boring entry. I think it is a refreshing change to my daily blah blahs and rants about how hypocritical someone is or how I hate the sight of some people. Maybe I will do this more unless of course Durga gives me the STARE and puts a stop to it. Haha.
Maybe I will blog about food next, my other love of my life!
Toodles!
