Finally on Sunday we managed to celebrate Devan's birthday. We had planned to go for dinner then Night Safari on the actual day since he mentioned he had never been there before. However, as some of you know, that did not happen due to certain circumstances.

Anyway, during the weekend we decided to go for that postponed dinner and outing. I have to say that the weather was a huge disappointment to me. As I felt tuition to meet D I realised it was drizzling! ARGH!

We still made our way to Yishun SAFRA where we were to have our dinner. On the way, we were still contemplating on whether to go for Night SAFARI since the weather was simply not on our side. Dinner was no lip-smacking affair but it was nice to spend time together, having our meal by the pool.

During dinner, I decided rain or no rain I am having that outing! So, I smsed Durga. What's an outing without my favourite couple? *winks* I was hoping in vain that the rain will gradually stop. Alas, it never did and we went on our little trip in the rain with a small umbrella just for the gals and Vadi's @#$@ *ahem* helmets!

We saw many animals and I have to admit I was excited at seeing them. How often do you come up close to the 'wild'? Being separated from them by 'only' a thin, proven non-breakable glass was an experience of its own. Perhaps the fact that I was on this trip after so long explains the enthusiasm too.

After seeing the animals it was time for some Ben and Jerry's. It was yummy as always. Then after some cam whoring and video shooting we called it a day! On the way home, I told D that our next trip should be the Zoo! Or the Bird Park! He just gave me a blank look. Ha-ha. By the way, he was also fascinated with the Night Safari trip, so there!

Then again I want to go to Sentosa! Durga! I want to go to SENTOSA! Let's go! Plan!

That aside, I had finally managed to get my hands on Angels and Demons by Dan Brown. I read his The Da Vinci Code and he had me enthralled. When I found out that Angels and Demons was his first book I was adamant on borrowing it. After months of waiting I finally managed to get the book. As expected, the book is fascinating. I just wanted to mention this paragraph that I read in it. It is religious but it applies to all in my opinion. Also, it sort of reflects my feelings about God.

It's this part in the story when a guard goes up to the priest and asks how God can be omnipotent AND benevolent when there are so many tragedies occurring which contradict this. The priest then tells him,
"Imagine you had an eight-year-old son, would you love him?"

"Of course."

"Would you let him skateboard?"

Chartrand did a double take. The camerlengo always seemed oddly "in touch" for a clergyman. "Yeah I guess," Chartrand said. "Sure, I‘d let him skateboard, but I’d tell him to be careful."

"So as this child’s father, you would give him some basic, good advice and then let him go off and make his own mistakes?"

"I wouldn't run behind him and mollycoddle him if that's what you mean."

"But what if he fell and skinned his knee?"

"He would learn to be more careful."

The camerlengo smiled. "So although you have the power to interfere and prevent your child's pain, you would choose to show your love by letting him learn his own lessons?"

"Of course. Pain is part of growing up. It's how we learn,"

The camerlengo nodded. "Exactly."

I would say this is beautifully put. The use of the metaphor is simple but yet so meaningful. All our troubles in life are part of growing up and learning about survival. Yes, the troubles at times seem a bit too intense and tragic but still we learn from it. Facing life with a smile is sometimes very hard to do. Filter the pain and sorrows then you will realise the lesson that you are meant to learn from it.

Hope this did not bore you just felt like putting it up. THIS BLOG IS ALIVE!!

Adios!

Ps. there are no pictures of the outing as I am doing this from work so look out for them in my multiply site!
